Built in the early 1960s, Samaritan Care Center, Inc. was one of the first nursing homes in Medina and has been under the ownership and management of Omnilife Healthcare Systems® since April 1988. At the center of Omnilife's logo is a Life Star, which contains at its center, an ankh, which is an ansate cross of Egyptian origin that symbolizes life. Samaritan Care Center, Inc. is a full-service, 56 bed skilled nursing facility and rest home. Across the street is the Samaritan Villa, a small, intimate, 30 bed assisted living facility where the emphasis is on personal care and meeting the needs of each individual. We offer short and long-term care, in addition to skilled nursing services and speech, occupational, and physical therapy. We have seven physicians on staff, and Dr. Kunal Mitra is our Medical Director.

Our primary focus is on our resident's satisfaction. Each year the State of Ohio conducts interviews with our residents which form the basis for their Resident Satisfaction Outcome Survey. Out of approximately 1,000 nursing homes in Ohio, our facility ranks as the best in Medina County and in the top thirty throughout the entire state. Our clinical outcomes are some of the strongest in the area, and we receive excellent surveys year after year from the Ohio Department of Health.

We are very proud of our rehabilitation program and our ability to enable close to 100% of our short-term residents to complete their treatment and return home within 30-60 days. Short-term residents enjoy Medicare-approved private rehabilitation suites that ensure our therapy patients feel as comfortable as possible during their rehabilitation. Each private suite is decorated in a unique theme, and includes a private bathroom, cable television, and many other amenities. Residents can choose to eat in our dining room, or we will serve them their meals in the comfort of their room.

Our Activities Director strives to keep everyone involved in a wide variety of activities, such as exercise classes, current-events discussion groups, movies, and afternoon outings. Outings range from attending programs at the Senior Center to shopping trips to local stores. We have facility vans available for these outings, in addition to transportation and staff accompaniment for all doctor's office appointments.
