California which sank after the Japanese raid on Pearl Harbor, the U.S.S. Astoria which went down at Guadalcanal, and the U.S.S. Santa Fe. After his discharge from the Navy, Mike trained as a bricklayer and built 50 masonry houses, many of which featured hand-cut stone fronts. Intrigued by the stone business, Mike founded Medina Cut Stone, Inc. in 1954 where he continues to supply homeowners and contractors with some of the finest stone building products in the local area. We met with Mike recently, and listened as he provided this overview of Medina Cut Stone's products and services;</p> <blockquote><p align="justify"><i>Medina Cut Stone, Inc. offers a wide variety of products fabricated from granite, marble, slate, building stone, sandstone, limestone, and stone for veneering. We provide cut stone of various descriptions for steps, platforms, and entrances, in addition to landscape stone such as wall stone, patio pavers, flagstone, boulders, and stone for exterior decoration. We supply granite, marble, and slate for kitchens and bathrooms, marble and granite for Jacuzzis, and construct beautiful fireplaces from distinctive natural stone. We also carry propane and fill tanks for grills and heating purposes.</i></p> <p align="justify"><i>On kitchen and bathroom jobs we handle everything from top to bottom. We measure and bid the job, fabricate the stone, and handle final installation. While we do not get involved in the plumbing or electrical work, we handle everything else from start to finish. We fabricate table tops, desks, and bars, and do a lot of marble repairs for furniture. Our work can be seen at Jim's Steak House in The Flats, and in the bar at The Harps. We fabricate stone signs, water fountains, statues, alters, and work on the restoration of local churches. The majority of our marble and granite work is performed for individual homeowners, and the bulk of our limestone and sandstone products go to local contractors.</i></p> <p align="justify"><i>We pride ourselves on the quality of our workmanship, and are members of the Better Business Bureau.
